IAFF Union Organization

What is the IAFF?
The International Association of Fire Fighters has more than 2,900 affiliates, representing fire fighters in more than 3,500 communities in the U.S. and Canada. The 267,000 members of the IAFF are the nation’s full-time professional fire fighters and paramedics, who protect the lives and property of 85 percent of the nation’s population.

Whom Do We Represent?
In addition to city and county fire fighters and emergency medical personnel, the IAFF represents state employees (such as the California Forestry fire fighters), federal workers (such as fire fighters on military installations), and fire and emergency medical workers employed at certain industrial facilities.

Local 2794

    IAFF Local 2794 has 4 Executive Board Officers; President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. We have four Shop Stewards  who represent the three shifts and one who represents the office and communication staff.  The Officers are elected to a two-year term.  Shop Stewards serve one year terms.   These eight members meet monthly for Executive Board meetings, typically on the first Tuesday of the month.  The general membership meetings are held the same evening, following the Executive Board Meeting. We currently represent 109 employee's of the Spring Hill Fire Rescue District.


    Throughout the year, members of Local 2794 participate in conventions, seminars, and forums, both on the state level and national level.  The state organizational level is through the Florida Professional Firefighters.   The national level is through the International Association of Fire Fighters.   This participation helps to keep our members educated as to labor activities occurring throughout the country.                                                                                     

    Local 2794 also prides it’s self on the community service efforts provided through its members.  Each year a large portion of our budget is dedicated to providing donations to various civic, school and other local community organizations.  We also answer the call with our Brotherhood of Locals across the Nation in times of need.                                                                            

    Local 2794 members, in conjunction with the IAFF, are proud to be the largest single organization contributors to the Muscular Dystrophy Association year after year.  Each member donates a portion of their pay directly to this worthy cause as our way of helping Jerry’s Kids.  We have also become involved in the annual "National Cancer Society “Relay For Life” held at Springstead High School.                                                                                    

   Through the continuing dedication of our fine men and women, Local 2794 tries to give as much back to the community as we receive.  Either through donations of money or time, there is an ongoing effort to be as involved in our community as we can.
